Physiotherapy

A physiotherapist is a licensed health care professional who has completed a master's degree and have specialized knowledge in assessment and treatment of a variety of medical conditions. They provide an in-depth assessment of the factors related to your condition and outline a treatment plan to help you get back to the activities you love and your previous level of function.  

Our physiotherapists have completed post-graduation courses in pain management, manual therapy, concussion, neurological conditions and nervous system function. They have an integrative approach and are able to treat holistically considering factors related to all aspects of your pain and condition. Along with a treatment plan, they highly value education, inclusion, empowerment, and engagement. We want to empower you to feel in control of your care.

Kinesiology

Kinesiologists have completed a degree related to the science of human movement and rehabilitation. Their role is to implement the latest evidence in movement science to help you build an exercise program to rehabilitate. Their focus is also related to empowerment and engagement to ensure you are feeling apart of the rehabilitation process. Our kinesiologists have completed extra training in trauma informed care, pain science, musculoskeletal injuries, active rehabilitation and functional movement assessments. Our kinesiologists work closely with Physiotherapists and are exceptional educators and leaders in movement therapy.

Health Coaching

A health coach is someone who helps clients manage their pain and injury in a holistic way, addressing the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of their condition. They work with clients to create a sustainable pain management plan that enables them to improve their quality of life and achieve their goals. A coach can help when someone feels stuck, doesn’t know what to do or feels controlled by pain. Coaching is an opportunity to be heard and engage in collaborative problem-solving with an empathetic thinking partner. It is action-focused and about moving forward. Our coaches have training in mindfulness, trauma sensitivity and somatic coaching.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists perform functional assessment of client’s daily function including self-care activities, household management, sleep, leisure interests and other areas of life as impacted by persistent pain/fatigue. The can provide education and support in areas of pain management and education, sleep hygiene, breathing relaxation and body awareness, mindfulness/grounding, energy conservation and management, goal setting, modifications for equipment for the home or work, memory, and cognition

Counselors aim to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their feelings, gain insight into their behaviors, and learn coping skills to manage. Our counsellors understand that living with such conditions can leave a significant impact on an individual’s physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. Our goal is to provide compassionate and effective support to help our clients manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.

Psychologist

Psychologists are professionals who study human behavior and mental processes. They have completed extensive training and are specialized in areas of assessment, diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders and conditions. At CPRI, our psychologists have a special focus on persistent pain and treat the whole person, with full awareness of the bio-psycho-social setting in which they live. Their clinical practice mostly, but not entirely, focuses on clients who suffer from chronic pain and co-existing psychological distress. They have a special interest and a great deal of training and experience in the sub-specialty of Pain Psychology.

They work to enhance the well-being of people and help them meet their basic needs. Overall, social workers aim to improve the lives of people in need and promote social justice. They work to empower individuals, families, and communities, and help them overcome barriers to success and well-being.

  • Holistic program comprising of education, mindset training, graded exercises specific to you and autonomic regulation strategies. 
  • Group classes for individuals with POTS, however, transition to this group class is only after some tolerance has been built in 1:1 sessions and we teach you how to listen to your body. 
  • Multisystem assessment comprising of sensory, motor control, vestibular, autonomic, psychological contributors. 
  • Rehabilitation program built to cater the major contributors from assessment and external cues focused tasks to unlock automatic movements. 
  • Autonomic regulation and education to facilitate maximal functionality. 
  • Unresolving (3+ months). All radiculopathies, axial pain, and undifferentiated mechanical pain accepted. Unresolving (3+ months) peripheral (e.g. knee, hip, shoulder, ankle) pain
  • Pain education, myofascial and manual therapy work, specialized exercise prescription, IMS/Acupuncture
  • Integrated Physiotherapy, Chiropractic and Kinesiology Rehabilitation +/- Occupational Therapy and Mental Health in collaboration with the Physicians.
  • Unresolving (3+ months) of musculoskeletal, neurologic/neuropathic, or widespread (e.g. fibromyalgia).
  • Pain education, graded activity exposure, desensitization and self regulation techniques, self management with a biopsychosocial lens.
  • Integrated Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health and Social Work in collaboration with the Physicians.
  • For hip and knee osteoarthritis patients
  • Active rehabilitation with Physiotherapy and Kinesiology
  • Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE), and guidance on exercise, stress management, cognitive behavioural techniques, goal setting, nutrition, sleep optimization, self management
  • Includes the evidence-based Empowered Relief class developed at Stanford University
